We’re getting married!!!
Stamatia-Ann Katriou & Marcin Orczyk
Wedding
Where?
We’re getting married at the church of St John the Baptist (Ag. Ioannis Prodromos, Makenzi King, Thessaloniki 546 22, Greece).
When?
On 22nd September 2018 at 5:45pm.
In Greek tradition the bride is supposed to arrive late at the wedding while the groom and guests wait outside for her. However, in the cities due to the tight church schedules the ceremony has to start exactly on time (6pm in our case). Therefore please arrive by 5:45pm to wait for the bride’s arrival outside the church.
Notes
- Please do not enter the church before the bridegroom. In Greek tradition the bride is presented to the groom outside the church.
- The entrance to the church is via steps down from the street level (no lift available).
- The ceremony will last exactly 30 minutes.
- The church is small, so it might be necessary for some of the guests to stand.
- The weather in Greece in September is still warm - expect sun and 20+ degrees, but there could be late afternoon showers.
Reception
Where?
After the wedding there will be an outdoor reception at Amadryas (3 Platania, Chortiatis 570 10, Greece - just before the village of Filyro).
When?
Guests are expected from 7:30pm.
Transport from the church and back to Thessaloniki
There will be a bus from the church to the reception venue. As there is no space in front of the church the bus will park in front of Agia Sofia (departure time to be announced here). Please look out for Mary and Theodora. They will be holding an olive branch and will lead you to the bus.
There will also be a return bus to the city center at 1:30am.
Guests are welcome to make their own way to and/or from Amadryas if preferred.
Notes
- If you are a vegetarian or gluten-free please let the waiters know on the day. If you have any other dietary restrictions please contact us in advance.
- When you RSVP please let us know if you will need seats on the bus.
- Please bring a jacket or cardigan with you as the venue will get cooler during the evening.
- Ladies: please wear thick heels, flat shoes or bring a change of shoes as the floor of the venue has paved stones with many cracks.
- Please no smoking in the seating area.

Notes
If you are staying at Astoria Hotel (or another hotel nearby) you can easily explore the centre of the city which is walking distance to the east of the hotel.
Wedding gifts
What?
We would love to see you at the wedding. There is no obligation to provide us with presents.
If you do wish to give us something we have set up a couple of online wedding lists:
- John Lewis - note, to access the above you will need the list number: 748368
- Amazon
The above lists automatically ensure that the same gift cannot be bought twice.
Money is also an option in the Greek tradition. And, as we said before, we are also happy with no gift.
Notes
- Please do not bring any large items with you to Greece. We live in London and would like to be able to take your gifts home (our suitcases are already almost full).
- If you have a gift in mind, feel free to send it directly to our UK address.
